Salvete, Parentes et Discipuli!
Hello, Parents and Students, Exciting news: the supplies for Latin 2 Q1 projects are in! This week, I have distributed project “kits” to the Latin 2 students who have already paid their activity fees. If you still need to pay the Latin Activity fee, here is the link: https://bartlettschools.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/1651/340/False/True This covers Latin Club dues, National Latin Exam registration and fees, and Supplies. Paying the Activity Fee means I can order supplies that are more unusual/harder to find, and we can do more creative projects, such as frescoes. Later this year, the same activity fees will support projects in Latin I and Latin III as well. Please let me know if you have any questions about this!
Please let me know if you have any questions and have a great weekend! Magistra R. Salvete, Parentes et Discipuli!

It's hard to believe the year has flown by so quickly. I'm so proud of each of you and the progress you have made this year. It is time to look back over the successes and memories of the year, as well as a time for looking ahead. Our wonderful Latin and Etymology scholars have some exciting changes around the corner--summer fun and moving to the next grade! As some of you may know, I had a death in my family, and that prevented me from being able to be with you the last week of school. I am so sorry that I wasn’t able to be there with you. I had been looking forward to our final Vocabulary competition of the year. I will definitely reschedule that for the Latin students in August! I feel so lucky to have had you all as my Latin classes at my first year in the Bartlett system, I love you all, and I'll be happy to stay in touch. If you need a reference over the summer for work or programs, please email me. I have your smiling faces in my heart as we are finishing out this school year. Thank you for all the support of our students and our school, and Go, Panthers! Gratissimas vobis ago, Ms. Ryder We received the results of the 2022 National Latin Exam today, and it is very exciting! After 2 years of pandemic learning, 18 of our Latin Scholars were willing to take the NLE this year. Of those 18, the following students won awards:
Kathleen Zyra Layupan – Maxima Cum Laude / Silver Medal Mark Roberts – Magna Cum Laude Celeste Posner – Cum Laude Pierce Hill – Cum Laude Abigail Sanders – Cum Laude The 2022 National Latin Exam has been taken by over 100,000 other students in all 50 US states and over 21 foreign countries. It is an honor to be among those who took places in the exam! Salvete, Parentes et Discipuli!
The 2022 Tennessee Junior Classical League (TJCL) convention is an annual convention held to foster a greater sense of community among students of Latin, Greek, and Classical Studies across the state of Tennessee. Students have the opportunity to compete in Academics, Creative Arts, Graphic Arts, School Spirit, Writing, and more! I am writing to encourage your student to consider participating in the TJCL Latin Convention 2022. It is a great accolade to have on a transcript when applying to colleges and universities! Because the TJCL Convention is virtual for us, there will be no need for transportation or missed school. We will take the academic portion in class, Friday, April 22, 2022. Our other entries (art, music, spirit, etc.) will be submitted online in advance. The cost for our TJCL Convention Virtual Participation is $25.00 per student. This is payable through Bartlett’s SchoolCash Online system, at this link: https://tinyurl.com/BHS-TJCL-2022 This letter also contains the TJCL arts waiver for participating in the convention. Everyone is working very hard to prepare for the convention and we are so proud to represent our school. We are excited to participate in Latin convention! A paper copy of this letter is coming home with your students so that you will not have to print anything out. Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Ms. Reagan Ryder Categories in which you can compete/participate at Convention:
