Salvete, Omnes! Dear Parents and Gaurdians!
We are now headed to the end of Quarter 1. For all classes, their Quarter 1 Projects are due MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2020. You students have had their project information since the second week of school and have had access to the instructions and rubrics in their Resources folder. In addition, they have been given class time to work on research for their projects, class time to check in with the teacher about corrections (to the Latin or clarifications for Etymology), and their only homework assignment for our classes this weekend is to complete and submit their projects. Avete! Magistra R.

Salvete, Omnes!
Latin Club registration time has arrived! If you are interested in joining the Latin Club this year, then please complete the registration form here: http://magistraryder.weebly.com/latin-club-sign-up.html Dues are typically $10/year, but since there are so many Covid restrictions in place, the Tennessee Junior Classical League has reduced dues to $5/year. The money can be dropped off at school in a sealed envelope with your student's name and "Latin Club" clearly marked on the outside. There will be Latin Fall Festivus this year, in a virtual format! There will be a Latin Convention in the Spring, either virtual or hybrid, depending on how the situation is going. Latin Club is a great opportunity for students to connect with others taking Latin across the Mid-South and across the state of Tennessee. Please let me know if you are interested in participating this year! Magistra Ryder Thanks to DonorsChoose, We have access to LUMINA, a website with supplemental exercises written by the same folks as our textbook. Working on review exercises there would be a great way to support our learning and also earn extra credit.
In the attached screenshot, you will see an example of what one Chapter Overview page looks like in LUMINA. (The example here is the Chapter 13 Overview.) For Extra Credit, you can complete the Chapter Practice Exercises AND the Chapter Reading Exercises. (You can certainly complete others, but those do not count for extra credit.) Each set of completed exercises is worth 5 points. All of these will be added together and entered into PowerSchool as an additional Quiz grade. You must score 80% or higher on the exercises to have them count for your 5 points. For Latin I and Latin II, the assignment exists in Schoology for students to have the directions and link, as well as which specified chapters will count as extra credit for their classes. The LUMINA Extra Credit is due on Friday, November 6, 2020, by 11:59pm. There are NO exceptions or extensions, as there must be time to grade it. Salvete, Parentes,
We have made it to October! This is the halfway point of our grading quarter, and I enjoyed meeting many of you at Parent-Teacher conferences last week. As we close out this week, I wanted to share a few things with you:
Magistra Ryder Salvete, Parentes!
In case you missed it, here is a link to sign up for a Parent-Teacher Conference this afternoon. The grading period for Progress Report 1 has ended, and you may want to check in about your student's progress. Avete atque Valete! Magistra Ryder |
